Members of SBCC & Distinguished Guests:

We are less than 5 days from the kick-off of the 72nd Gentlemen’s Invitational.  Click here for your flights and pairings for the entire event.  Additionally you can use the link on this page to view the schedule of events for the week.

We landed at a field size of 56 which is broken down into 7 flights of 8 teams.

Our format this year is going to be (7) 9 hole matches within the flights.  At the completion of the 7 matches, each flight winner along with the top 3 teams (by points) that didn’t win their flight will qualify for the shoot-out.   There are 9 points available in each match – 1 point for winning the hole, 1/2 point for halving the hole, and 0 points for losing the hole.  There will be no additional point for winning the match.

Handicaps are figured at 90% and we will use half shots so that teams won’t be awarded or penalized for playing a match on the front 9 vs the back 9.  I do have 2 golfers that will be playing from the green tees.  They will receive the standard USGA deduction for moving up a tee and their strokes will be utilized from the white tee handicaps.  I will explain this further prior to the kick-off on Thursday morning.

If you haven’t made your tee time for Wednesday it’s not too late.   Call the golf shop at 574-289-2277 and myself or staff will take care of you.

On Wednesday we will have Travis Mathew on site providing a shopping experience for all participants.  They will be here from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. so you will have ample time to do your shopping.  Additionally on Wednesday we will collect our “hat pool” fund of $200 per team, have our kick-off dinner, calcutta, and some fun and games on the new patio overlooking Hole 10.

As a reminder, attire is Country Club Casual for the entire week!

If you would like a caddie for the week or have already made arrangements on your own with a caddie, PLEASE LET US KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so we can plan accordingly.

We are excited for a great event and look forward to seeing each of you next week!
